Jaspers 6th vet visit!

So Jasper is 2/12 years old. He has been to the vet 6 times so far. TD is 6 and he has been 9 times. Jasper is not very gracefull when it comes to exploring and playing in the back yard. The 2nd trip to the vet was because he was limping around for 2 weeks and I took him in and she told me he needed to see a doggie bone surgeon because he had probably torn his cruciate ligament. He is not a football player, what?? She gave me some pills and said put him on bed reat, not gonna happen. I work! Well the pills worked thank god and he never hobbled again(so far). I researched the surgery on the internet and besides being 5 grand, he would have to be crated for 4 weeks. Not gonna happen, I work! So the next visit was when we came home from New York, I noticed he was all swollen and had hives. Being a nurse I knew he was allergic to something, but what? Called the vet and because it was after hrs, they said up front it would be 65.00 just to see him! Well, Ill be there in 3 mins. So they gave him benadryl and decadron IV and boy was he sleepy, hives gone though. I had to give him benadryl for the next day or 2 so he was quite sleepy. We have no idea what he got into. Next visit was for a major bath that he needed, he pissed on the floor in the waiting room. nice. Oh and this is a new vet now, we switched because Jack takes care of their pool. FIrst impression, Jasper didnt. So next visit I came home from work about 4 and noticed him licking under his left front leg, it looked red, swollen and oozing. I had no idea what he had done. Took him to new vet and apparently he had cut himself and they had to shave him, give him more antibiotics and a topical powder. He hated the powder, I would just hold it in my hand, he would see it and run, so I had to sneakk up on him while sleeping to do it. So, today was supposed to be just a yearly shots etc. But I should have known it would not be that easy.He has bilateral ear infections and he has a little tumor thing growing on the side of his face, so he has to have that removed next Friday!!!! Seriuosly, you would think for Christmas, J would give us a break!

Holiday Parties

So last night was the office party and it rocked. After stressing over clothes, I headed to pick up sis in law and we had to drive 30 mins to the party, but well worth it. I have to say sis in law is awesome, we had a great time eating drinking and talking with everyone. We then headed to some of her friends houses and that was also fun! We did some apple something shots so today, not feeling so hot. I came home last night and let the dogs out, shut the door and starting watching Sat night live, Let the dogs back in so I thought! An hour later I hear crying at the door, I left my baby Jasper outside for an hr. I am a horrible mom and should never party without hubby home. I even confessed to him when he rolled in today from "hunting". He was not so pleased with the whole experience. First he packed himself, big mistake, he forgor the FAN, we do not ever ever ever go anywhere without the FAN! And he left his pillow, so he's napping now while I get to do this! So thanks sis in law for going and also taking me to your party, I had a great night!

Babysitting 101

So haven't posted in a while, I think the only person who reads this is Aunt Rose, so I am sure that nobody ahs been checking this site. So I volunteered to watch my wonderfully entertaining neices last night while the fam went to a party. D as usual was in rare form performing and playing while watching swan lake. I convinced her that swan lake was over and proceeded to change the channel to watch anything else under the sun. Found the movie Click with Adam Sandler so I got her semi entertained with that while I tried to entertain J also. Well, hubby brought us Outback, ate and left, because as he says, he is not the one whoo volunteered to babysit. At 815, I got J and D and went to D's room to read her a bedtime story, It was a 50 page bible book that I completely skipped through and was done in 5 minutes, the whole time J is trying to pull things off her big siters head board. So after retrieving the correct baby doll for D to sleep with, she was down. 1 down 1 to go, NOT! J has no desire to slow down or sleep, so we walked, talked, played ate some more, pooped some more and Yeah, fam is back and she is happy as a lark! I do love watching them! Everytime I see them they are in to something new! As I was leaving hubby called from home to tell me that MY dog Jasper pissed him off and he was leaving him outside, so of course I immediately rushed home to let him in, because he never ever sleeps outside!

Birthday at the Oliver's

So hubby is napping for and hr and then we go to see his bro and fam. I love these people. It's my sis n law's 30th, well it was Tues, but we are doing the fam thing tonight. I can't wait to see my nieces and buddy and Tiger. They moved near us last year and It has been great! I bought a crate of apples from my dog sitter and we have no use for them, just did it for the band funraising, so I am gonna take D some and I attempted to make an apple crisp, not sure how it tastes yet, but smells good. I hate to waste food, so hubby is gonna take the apples to his deer camp place and feed the deer? I had no idea deer ate apples?

Pressure washing

So hubby brings this huge loud thing home and wants me to clean the deck, 4 hrs later and now I am convinced I have carpal tunnel in my right wrist, it looks a little better, I had forgotten how it looked years ago pre-weather. So Jasper and TD are outside with us carrying on, fighting and getting so dirty, Jasper however is not so afraid of the blower or the pressure washer. I noticed him jumping almost over the 6 ft fence eating bamboo leaves. DO I not give him enough fiber in his diet??? Why is he eating the bark off of the tree also? I saw him do it, TD was never like that. I think Japser is adopted!~

Bonefish

My wonderful hubby came home yesterday and gave me a beautiful poinsetta. However, we can't put it by the fireplace because Jasper will most certainly eat it and die and I don't want that! Then he tells me that I have to "help" him pressure wash the deck and climb on top of the boat because there is massive amounts of water on top of it. I wonder if I can teacher Jasper to do that while he is up there? So we went to my fave place last night and it rocked as usual. We split the bacon wrapped scallops, bang bang shrimp, Ceasar salad and had their special lobster thermidor mahi mahi over garlic mashed potatoes and veggies. It was delicious however our stomachs are a little "gurgly" this morning, but that won't deter me from going back, I eat raw fish for god's sake. Speaking of sushi, we went to a new place in town called "m" on lady street, it was great!

Christmas Cards

I love love love love getting photo cards at Christmas. I love to see the kids, dogs, families, etc. I save them and put them in a album, hold on Jasper is crying at the backdoor, gotta drop everything to let him in,okay so I made photo cards this year of TD and Jasper. So Merry Christmas to all my friends and family that will be getting a card of my 2 beloved, spoiled dogs and to the family and friends that get to see them weekly, well, here they are again. Love me

Bonefish

Is it just me or do I love Bonefish more than any other place. I first started going in Tallahassee and then we moved here and OWW, one right around the corner. My mom gave us a giftcard 2 weeks ago and it been burning a hole in my pocket, gotta use it soon, even though it doesn't expire! So we are going tonight for some bang bang shrimp, scallops and other stuff! I just love it. I think I will create a facebook page now for people to join that love Bonefish! I have way too much time on my hands today, ya think?

Things Jasper has eaten

Jack and I were laying in bed the other morning with Jasper in between us and thinking about all the things he has done in his 2 years of life to cost us money.
1. He ate the grill covers-2 of them.
2. He shredded every toy I ever bought for him, like 35 I think.
3. He ate part of the deck-the wood deck.
4. He ate his dog house made of hard plastic.
5. He ate the grillutensils Jack left outside.
6. He ate branches off trees in the yard(free).
7. He ate the camper, camper cover and part of the trailer.
8. He ate the blinds when we left him inside one day for an hour while it was raining and we went to McCalister's.
9. Shoes
10. The wood around the window in the "gym"
11. his bed in the office
12. He bites his toenails
13. Pillows on the couch and bed
14. A cord from somewhere?
15. he also eats paper, ice and anything on the floor. He is a dog, but he thinks he is a goat!

Camper Cover

Jack and I bought our camper about 4 years ago, we loved it. We take it to the beach and Darlington. It sleeps 6 has a great kitchen, bathroom, tv etc. So after Jasper ate the wires from underneath,, we put a huge fence around it and we decided it needed a cover to be safe from the weather, so we went to RV world and got a great one for 250.00. We put it over the camper all snug and tight so we thought. Came home next day, half of it was laying in the yard, how did he di it? I dont know but he did, the entired side of it was gone. We know Jasper did it, TD is an adult and doesnt do that. So again, Jasper has cost us to cuss, whip him and thing of ways that he can't ruin things! I am so sure our neighbors think we are white trash!

The Camper

We brought Jasper home 2 years ago to meet his new family, me, Jack and his daddy TD. We have a nice sized fenced in backyard with trees, toys, a shed and a camper. Well Jasper was 8 weeks old when he met us and became familiar with his backyard. At night and when we are home the dogs are inside, during the day when we work they stay outside rain, sleet, hail whatever. They have great big doghouses out there with blankets, well, Jasper would take the blankets out to the backyard and tear them up. His fault, not mine. Well one day Jack and I were working in the backyard and noticed lots of wires hanging out of the bottom of the camper. Yep, Jasper had gotten under tha camper and eaten and pulled wires out from everywhere. So we had to take it to get repaired. Damages 1000.00! We brought it home and put up a fence around it, so far, so good, camper works great now, however he doesnt get to go with us to camp!

Pet Emergency

So this is old too, but I came home one afternoon to see Jasper licking under his front leg and whimpering. I went in the house and let him in and he had a huge cut under his leg, it was red, swollen and oozing something nasty. I asked him what he had done, but he is a dog and therefore I got noo answer. So, I called Jack and told him ans he said to take him to the vet again to see what's wrong, the last time we went it was 180.00 because apparently something bit him in the backyard and he got all swole up from an allergic reaction and they have to give him decadron, benadryl and other crap. He slept for days! Anyways, new net this time, Dr. T says he got cut by something, I am like what? He stays in the backyard with his dad Td and trees, thats it, oh wait a minute, the fence around the boat, HAHAHHA!! He was scaling the fence and got stuck! Well they shaved him, gave him antibiotics and poweder for 10 days, he is now fully recovered and owes us 300.00 for that one!

My goat

Okay, so this happened months ago, but since I am new to this I have a great story about a 2 year old german shorthaired pointer named Jasper Bowden, yes he is named after Bobby not Tommy or the others. Jack and I bought a party boat in March for riding, skiing, etc, we had a cover made for it that covered the entire boat from the weather since it's in our backyard, well, when we pull it out of the backyard, we take the cover off in the driveway and leave it there. The dogs stay in the backyard which is fenced in and when we get home, we put the cover back on, and put it int he backyard until the next outing. Well we had noticed pawprints all over the cover and we just thought it was the cats or neighborhood dogs walking on it. Well a few months ago, Jack had already left for work and I headed out around 730 and I happened to look in the backyard and low and behold Jasper is on top of the boat, cover and all. He had to scale a 3 foot fence and jump there, he was walking all over it. I screamed at him and he jumped down and I called Jack and he was pissed to say the least. What german shorthaired pointer hunting dog scales fenceds to sit on top of a covered boat? He is supposed to be hunting! Well, Jack went to Lowe's and put up a 5 foot fence around the boat. Didnt matters, teh next afternoon when Jack go home, Jasper was stuck on top of the boat, Jack had to go scale the fence and get him down! He is truly a goat and not a bird dog!

Dogs Barking

Is it just me that when dogs bark it doesn't bother me? Some people get very irritated that my dogs bark at squirrels during daylight hours, well go to work for god's sake. We talk during the day, they bark during the day. It's their way of commuicating, right?
